Pefki Gorge

The Pefki Gorge is a small and pretty gorge in southeast Crete and it runs down from Pefki village to Makriyalos. It begins just outside the village of Pefki on the road to Agios Stephanos and includes a gentle walk down ancient donkey tracks through olive groves, through to the magnificent gorge steeped on either side by 200 meters vertical cliffs. Its beauty is unique, because it is located in a pine forest (pefka in Greek).

The wonderful landscape in combination with the sharp rocks undertakes you in a pleasant walk through the gorge. The morphology of this gorge differs radically from the other known gorges of eastern Crete. The gorge is 5 kilometres long and it takes roughly 2,5 hours to cross it.
