Updates Discover Rethymnon... on Foot

It’s in the nature of walking guidebooks to be out of date almost as soon as they appear! Especially in Crete the landscape is changing all the time; footpaths are made into roads or are overgrown, houses are built, new fences are erected, etc. If you find any changes in the walks or think that the descriptions are not correct or clear, please let us know and send your advice to: info@discoveronfoot.com The changes will be added in future editions of the book. All our Books and updates for the walks you can find on our website www.discoveronfoot.com

Here you find updates for our booklet Discover Rethymnon... on Foot. The updates are based upon experiences from other hikers but also by new information from us while checking the routes. The updates below are for the edition from 2016!!

In 2023 a new edition is published and all updates have been incorporated!

Discover Rethymnon... on Foot, edition 2023

Walk 1: Along tiny streets in the old town

Page 21, column 2, last line ....having on your left hand side the Archaeological Museum of Rethymnon (8).

Change: The Archaeological Museum is now located at the church of Agios Frangiskos (nr 1 in walk 2, page 24).

Walk 6: To Chromonastiri and the panagia church

Page 42, column 2, (just before point 6) .....The track becomes now a narrow stony track going uphill which can be a bit overgrown and eroded.

Update: Especially is early spring the path is sometimes hardly visible, so this stretch of 250 m can be a bit of a struggle!

Walk 8 From Chromonastiri to Prasses

Page 49 first line (The road becomes gravel and 130m further ignore a concrete road to the right..). Now this part of the road has new asphalt and the gravel starts about 350 m further.

Page 50, column 2, line 3/4 (On the other side of the road there is a kafenion). Unfortunately the kafenion is closed!
