Welcome to the website of Discover…On Foot. After doing a lot of walks on my own and working as a walking guide, I started in 2009 to write some walk descriptions for the area around the village Vamos, Crete. I also had the idea to write a little guidebook about the walks and the village of Vamos. More and more I discovered that there was a little information available on paper about the village itself. The idea was to write a local walking guidebook that would include historical information, clear maps and beautiful photographs that could be used to help to discover a relatively small area. After doing a lot of research, finding the walks, taking photographs and very nice graphic design, a very colourfull and informative guidebook was the result: Discover Vamos...On Foot.
We have found the perfect combination of making a walking guidebook combined with nice photos and a lot of additional information. Also for people who are not so keen on walking the books are nice as a "souvenir” of their stay in that particular area.
In 2010 the second book was a fact: Discover Kavros & Georgioupolis...On Foot. The book Discover Almyrida & Kalyves...On Foot became the third and there are many ideas for other locations, not only in Crete but for other destinations as well!
Since our first three walking guidebooks are of destinations on Crete I include in the website some pages with extra information about the walking possibilities on Crete (Walking on Crete). This island is like a country on its own and has so much to offer for walkers!
I hope you enjoy discovering some hidden treasures usually missed by the majority of visitors and get a real flavor of the areas described in our books!
