Walking guidebooks Crete
 There are a lot of walking guide books available for the island of Crete. Especially in English and German there are many different published walking guidebooks. Mostly it is divided by a book for Western Crete and one for Eastern Crete. Many of these books have described often the same walks. Therefore there are more and more initiatives of local- or specialized walking guidebooks of a certain area.  Voor Kreta zijn veel verschillende wandelgidsen beschikbaar. Vooral in het Engels en Duits zijn veel verschillende wandelgidsen uitgebracht. Meestal is het eiland opgedeeld in een gids voor West Kreta en één voor Oost Kreta. De meeste van deze boeken beschrijven echter vaak dezelfde wandeltochten. Now available, an interesting book about the traditional village of Vamos in Crete. The book contains many beautiful pictures and information about the history of the village. There is a village walk that brings you along the sightseeings of the village and there are additionally 6 easy country walks in the area of Vamos. Each walk description includes extra information and a detailed map.

SUNFLOWER WESTERN CRETE CAR TOURS AND WALKS
This book contains 8 car tours, 38 long and short walks and 17 picnic places. A lot of the walks described in this book are the 'known' walking routes. Many of these hikes are also offered as individual or guided walking holidays by travel companies. If you are based in Chania or Rethymno it's quit a travel to get to most of the walks. The descriptions and maps are clear.
